An Important Note on Bellies
(Since this topic is one of my main comfort ones and will get mentioned here often, the readers may need to keep in mind a couple things.)
Reason
Exactly the same as explained by the wonderful Lunаrbаbооn in his comics –
– and as said by a certain kind soul from around here: “I just want to stare and be amazed that such a beautiful thing exists”.
Kinds
The only kind of belly you will see here is male (anthro or, in rare cases, human) and cartoon or fairytale.
Anatomy
Regardless of the franchise, I fanon all the characters having approximately same one: no innards below the diaphragm, only a large stomach-like cavity filled with fully liquid or slightly thicker gel-like magic. The magic is “smart” and can completely dissolve whatever food its host ate – or, if another living being (not prey) happens to get inside, just warm them and help them rest. On very rare occassions, the belly also can get slightly (but only slightly) “sentient” thanks to this magic.
Types:
- Naturally pudgy. When a character doesn’t even have to do anything but admire himself. For a carnivorous monster it can be a primordial pouch – an obvious sign of health and having enough energy in store.
- Post-meal. Familiar to everyone – round, slightly saggy and squishy. ‘Cause there’s seriously no better moodlifter than seeing those loved by, or close to, you all comfy – and fed. All super caring to their body and “anchored” into being, because world is just as loving and caring to them.
- Hungry (rarely). Mainly in a context where hunger and the grrrowls is nothing more than a promise of the future fullness and warmth.
- Vore. Sometimes similar to post-meal ones, sometimes not, but (save for really rare occassions) never harmful to the creature inside. The host’s belly almost always serves as a warm, cozy magical shelter for the guest.
- Since end of 2021 – Pregnant. Strictly ❕ for monster and spirit characters who would be 100% capable to handle it. Pregnancy (as well as the cubs’ birth) for them never happens the same way as in real life – it gets triggered by the future parent’s own will and the magic inside his body. For some, a special belly pouch just below the ribcage (similar to one WuvLuv toys used to have) serves as a birth canal for the cub(s) and becomes invisible afterwards. For some (spirits), the canal is replaced with their own heart serving as a portal.
Sensitivity and role in bonding
I write and draw stuff with hetero pairings, where both characters have Barbie and Ken doll anatomy (are smooth, for short). The belly is the male character’s most sensitive zone (while for the female character it’s the back). Opening this zone for the other to access is the highest form of trust. Besides, what’s not to love about one of the most harmless and innocent parts of the body, which is also believed to be THE center of life force and the seat of the soul?
